Where did man come from?

me and gorillaLast week I was with Dawson at the Jacksonville Zoo and had an amazing time. Seeing so many different animals reminds me of God’s wonderful imagination on the day of creation. There was a particular zoo keeper that decided to enlighten me about what he called “our closest relative” the Bonobo (pic at the bottom). After I let him tell me his perspective on where we came from I made sure that he knew I was a Creationist. He was not very happy about the fact that I disagreed that the Bonobo was my closest relative. I didn’t get a chance to converse with him and explain to him why I believe what I believe so I will do so now.

1. Genesis 1:24-27, states very clearly that God made animals according to their kind and then He made man in His image. This shows two separate events in creation. God also made it clear that we have dominion over animals, showing we are not equal, and even though we may have some similarities we are not ancestors of any animal. See 1 Corinthians 15:39. God also tells us that Adam was made from “the dust of the ground” (Gen 2:7) not from an ape.

To be clear I believe in the Creation account 100% based upon God’s Word, Here are a few more reasons.

2. Approximately 95% of all known fossils are marine invertebrates and only about 0.1% are vertebrates (animals with bones). Scientists and their imaginations have been used to the full extent with no more evidence than a tooth, see Nebraska man and also “Lucy“.  Listen to the words of Dr. David Pilbeam, “He said it was not due to the discovery of only one particular specimen, but the recovery of various materials made him realize that his previous statements, which had been made so adamantly, were really based on very little evidence. Because they were based on so little evidence, he began to wonder why he had held them so strongly. It made him think about the nature of scientific thinking, and this precipitated a very profound change in his approach to analyzing data. He said that many of the statements made in the field of human origins had ‘very little to do with the real data and a great deal to do with unstated assumptions’. He thought this was true not only of his field but, ‘Much of what is said in other areas, I think, is also highly speculative”.

3. The question may come up about the similarities in the DNA of chimps andbonobo Humans. Similarity is not evidence for common ancestry but is due to a common Designer! The unity of all creation is a testimony of The One True God who made it all. Rom 1:20 Col 1:15-16 Is a cloud which is made up of  100% water—somehow related to a watermelon, which is 98% water. It is not the similarities, but the significant DIFFERENCES between humans and chimps that make us unique.

The real missing link in our world is not the ape-man but the link that is broken between Creator and creation. God wants us to know Him and to become like His Son Jesus Christ. We were made to worship and obey Him! Put your faith and trust in Christ not in the shifting sand of the science world. The answers are found in Genesis.

  1. you are right, i do like it! that is really good evidence! thank you, cause i will definitely be using some of your figures and explanations in future “discussions”. :)

  2. Well said Jodi. It spurred some thought on my part on Darwin. Not being well versed in “other beliefs” I had heard that he recanted his evolution theory on his deathbed. Would have been nice to use that argument this however is untrue as seen in the following. Too bad….he should’ve had the privilege of knowing you.

  3. Ever read Charles Capps? Do you believe Noah’s flood was the second? What about Genesis 1:1 and 1:2….what about the theory of the time gap? I agree with you 100% on the ape thing, though. God made man in his image and God is not a monkey. I was speaking with our pastor’s son (our age)…he’s proposes that dinosaurs existed before Genesis…he’s going to give me some more materials to research on the subject. Will share if you are interested.

  4. Read the ark of millions of years. It is kind of wild but makes very good sense and cites many sources that are legit.I researched all the sources and liked the book a lot. Some of the stuff i didnt agree with but a very good read for the scientist in me

  5. All this is kind of surprising Jody. I had a friend that went to Liberty, and though I had never seen it, he ASSURED me that you had a habit of dodging serious questions and issues. You handled this expertly. I see no reason for us as Christians to attempt to find common ground with scientific theory. If you compare the Genesis account with scientific theory on the origin of life, they clash on nearly every point. I believe God orchestrated the Genesis account to be written in such a fashion. In response to Leslie, I have a website that I think is a good resource on the Gap theory and many other common, and not so common Christian topics. I won’t go into detail since they can be found here. Everyone should have a look.

  6. Nice job. I often regard the fossil evidence as dangerous and I agree whole heartedly with your DNA explanation. Why would God need to recreate DNA and its function?
I just thought of this example to encourage thought: Imagine I find four partially eaten sandwiches in my house. All have bread and cheese but two have turkey and only one of these has mustard. Which sandwich came first? Did the mustard, turkey, and cheese evolve from the cheese sandwich or were they all made at the same time?

However, a question that bothers me is why does science seem to want to attack faith lately? Science cannot prove or disprove God because God is not of the natural world, which what science is limited too. Too many scientists, like the rest of us, have forgotten their purpose from God and are out to make themselves into gods.
