I can only imagine the struggles you are having with the fact that Dawson is not communicating in a “normal” manner. But it seems like to me that yes he is making strides in verbal communication but also is figuring out how to use his communication board and sign language to communicate his needs. And IMHO the fact that he can express himself in any of those manners at all is a HUGE step in the right direction.

And looking back it is so easy to walk away from the faith after leaving home when the faith being walked away from wasnt yours to begin with …and I am making that statement from personal experience the fact is that I grew up in a Christian home….and though I accepted Christ at the age of 8…I really didnt embrace it as my own until I started college

I am praying that God will use it to help those who have grown up in a Christian home esp to embrace the Gospel for themselves!

Do you all realize that his rate of learning is getting faster and faster and that he is learning from his environment. Just a few weeks ago we were only doing “red” and 3 letters, and now…? Well just look at him. The question is has he learned those new items that quickly or has he known them all along and picked it up from his environment?

I was so amazed. I had no idea to start with that Dawson had autism until i started following your posts this summer on facebook. While I was watching the videos it brought tears to my eys. I am so uninformed about autism. All I know is that it brings so much pain to the families that are involved. I will be praying for you and Ruth and your boys. Thanks for making me more aware of this disease. You and your family are such a blessing. I am sorry that things didn’t go like you had hoped at your meeting with Dawson’s school personel.
